Working with Total Health Physio
From the very first consultation, we take the time to listen. This supports us in developing genuine empathy and puts us in the best position to properly understand ‒ and meet ‒ our clients’ unique needs.
For organisations, we take the time to review existing healthcare systems and how we can best contribute. As an example, reviewing falls prevention rates, this is an aged care quality indicator – and then recommending appropriate changes to lower this risk (i.e. increasing lighting, increasing staff during peak falls hours etc).
Whether we’re meeting with an individual client or developing a relationship with a new health organisation, we understand that everyone will have different goals. We consider this approach to be central to the successes we’ve had with our clients.
A Real Success Story from a Patient in Brighton
We met a lovely patient at a nursing home who had returned from hospital following a hip fracture. The patient applied for a rehabilitation program at the hospital, however was not admitted due to his cognitive state.
Without Physiotherapy intervention, it was likely the gentleman would become non-ambulant within weeks. Our capacity to walk is something we all cherish. The facility made a referral to Total Health Physio.
The patient was a lovely active gentleman and an avid gardener. We were determined to ensure he was able to walk again and resume his passion for gardening. So his physiotherapy rehab journey began and it took some hard work but after some months he was back to his pre-fall mobility status.
By the time our work together had come to an end we would visit the facility and couldn’t find him in his room – because he was always outside tending to his plants! We prescribed a custom chair and cushion so he could spend time safely in the facility garden and attend to the plants.
During recovery from a hip surgery, the cornerstone of rehabilitation will be strengthening the abductors, glutes and core. But ultimately we focus on returning to function so working on key muscle groups that assist with activities such as getting out of bed, getting up from a chair and walking.
This was an amazing success story for our Brighton patient, one patient with one goal which he was able to achieve with our help – that’s what matters to Total Health Physio.
